Filter press is used for sludge dewatering, oil dewatering, etc. for many years. It is a highly efficient machine used to filter sludge, oil, and similar substances, making it preferred in many applications.
With technological advancements in filter press machines, more practical, more controlled, and fully automatic models have been developed.
The filter press machine is a special equipment that works on the principle of separating solid and liquid phases, generally used in sludge dewatering, oil dewatering (reducing waste volume, reducing water content in the product), or filtration applications.
In filter press plates, the watery sludge transferred by the pump is filtered through the cloths, leaving the solid materials in the gaps between the plates as the pressure increases.
At the filter press outlet, the solid phase produces filter press cake, and the liquid phase produces filtrate.
The filtration process is discontinuous; as the plates fill up, the system opens, and the resulting filter press cake is cleaned. Then the process is repeated.

Working Principle of the Filter Press
The solid-liquid mixture is transferred to the filter press with the help of a high-pressure pump. The solid-liquid mixture is filtered with filter cloths fitted on the filter press plates, and solid particles are collected between the filter plates. The liquid resulting from filtration is removed from the equipment.
The filter press plates and the cloths on them, which are compressed under high pressure, must be fed with pressure pumps.
The solid materials accumulated in the volume between the filter press plates should be disposed of by opening the plates and cleaning the materials between them.
