The Throat Type Metal Detector is a pipe-type metal control system used to detect foreign metal particles that may be present in granule products transferred to the package by free fall method from the weighing system in packaging machines.

The product passes through the throat of the metal detector while being transferred from the weighing or dosing system to the packaging machine. During this transition, foreign materials such as iron, brass, and stainless steel that may have mixed with the product are checked.

When metal particles are detected, the packaging machine can be stopped, and the relevant package can be removed from the system in a controlled manner. The faulty product separation process can be carried out using methods such as stopping the machine, cutting the package in 2 dimensions, or using a reject conveyor at the machine exit depending on the application.

Throat type metal detectors can be manufactured in different passage diameters according to the type of product to be packaged, package weight, and the volume of the product passing through the detector. Changing the throat diameter can affect metal detection sensitivity.

Operating System

Products are passed through the throat of the metal detector by free fall method after exiting the weighing or dosing unit. The detector performs foreign metal control within the product flow before the packaging process.

In case metal is detected, the packaging machine can be stopped. To prevent the relevant product from reaching the consumer, the package with detected metal is removed from the production flow in a controlled manner.

Depending on the structure of the production line, methods such as cutting the package in 2 dimensions or using a reject conveyor at the machine exit can also be applied for separating faulty products.
