A - FORMALDEHYDE PRODUCTION Formaldehyde is produced as a result of the oxidation of methanol with oxygen. CH3OH + ½ O2 ..............................CH2O + H2O + 38 Kcal Methanol and formaldehyde are sent in vapor form to the oxidation reactor. There are 14,000 tubes in the formaldehyde oxidation reactor, and these tubes contain iron molybdenum oxide as a catalyst. Methanol is converted to formaldehyde as it passes through the catalyst. Formaldehyde is sent to the absorption column to obtain a solution. Water or urea solution is supplied to the absorption column. If the production of UFC-80 absorption column is needed, it should be supplied together with urea solution. B - UREA-FORMALDEHYDE PRODUCTION (MDF) Formaldehyde enters special reactors. Adjusting the pH is the first step of urea loading. In the reactor, methylol groups occur after the condensation reaction with basic pH and acidic pH. After the acidic reaction, the second urea must be added. It needs to take water with a vacuum system to adjust the solid content.
