Guillotine cutting has been in our lives for a long time so that people can handle their work more easily in most sectors. Although guillotine cutting shears were used manually in the past and cutting was done, today guillotine cutting machines have become automatic with the help of computer systems to adjust the cutting shape and ratio, enabling the production of products in different standards and facilitating production with less effort. Thanks to guillotine sheet cutting machines, sheet bending and cutting processes have become easily manageable. Guillotine sheet cutting machine actually consists of a bench and shears. Guillotine shearing is the process of cutting metal sheets according to the standard specified on the computer in order to make them useful.

BASIC WORKING PRINCIPLE OF GUILLOTINE CUTTING

Guillotine cutting machines work with the cutting of sheet metal on the bench with two guillotine blades. The use of guillotine shears for sheet cutting is no different from the way knives are used in households. Guillotine shearing machines use two blades. One of the guillotine blades remains fixed at the bottom while the other is in motion on the top side. Guillotine cutting is carried out in the desired way based on the information entered into the system in the computer, depending on the purpose of the sheet cutting.

TYPES OF GUILLOTINE SHEARS

Cutting quality is very important in sheet metal manufacturing industry. Since demands vary greatly in many different large companies, diversity has also emerged in shears in order to create both variety in production and a smoother and straight level.

 

Alligator shears are used in cutting metals such as pipes or irons used in construction and also in cutting excess from metal. Alligator shears can show a rough finish even though they have a low cost, usability, and strength. Alligator shears are also a type of shear used to chop scrap metals and operate with a hydraulic cylinder.

 

Electric shears are operated by electricity to cut metal parts and are controlled manually. They are efficient and high-quality shears that can cut straight lines as well as curved ones.

 

Bench shears can be used to cut rough parts of sheet metals. They can make circular cuts and provide square shapes. They do not have a cover and also have clean production efficiency.

 

Throatless shears can easily cut all sheet metals, irregular or straight, and can be moved during cutting as desired.

 

There are good sides of working with a metal guillotine shear. It is high volume and low cost. Also, the speed is at an ideal level. Metal guillotine shears leave the edges of metals smooth. For tasks where welding will be done later and aesthetics are not important, this shear is ideal. This shear consists of a work holding device, a measuring device, and blades at the bottom and top. The movable blade can perform the operation in a straight or slanted manner for a better and stronger cut. It can be operated with a foot, mechanical, or hydraulic. It firmly holds and secures the metal and cutting is done with the help of the movable blade.

USED IN WHICH INDUSTRIES

Although guillotine sheet cutting machines are commonly used in the construction sector, they are also used in many other sectors. In addition to being widely used in the construction sector for the production of houses and factories, guillotine cutting machines are used in furniture making, machine manufacturing, agriculture sector, production of white goods, automotive, shipbuilding, and production of equipment and vehicles for ventilation. Thanks to the quiet and fast operation of guillotine cutting machines, they save time for the producer, allow precise and error-free cutting with benchtop cutting, save from excessive expenses, are easy to learn and use, and easy to set up. Therefore, guillotine sheet cutting machines are preferred and used in many areas.

USEFUL TIPS FOR GUILLOTINE MACHINE

Never apply unnecessary pressure for guillotine machine cutting. Your guillotine cutting machines working automatically and with computer system will determine and alert you to the necessary pressure level, but make sure to cut in the right alignment, spacing, and with just enough pressure when manually using the machine. Do not operate the machine unless you are sure it is set correctly. Do not keep a broken or poorly functioning piece in the guillotine cutting machine. If such a thing is noticed, immediate intervention is required. Always make sure to keep the area clean when cutting with a guillotine machine. Get rid of unnecessary clutter around and pay attention to cleanliness. Make sure that during any machine maintenance and lubrication, the oil does not spill around. Always make sure to keep the blades in the shear sharp and clean.

GUILLOTINE MACHINE MAINTENANCE

A good and necessary maintenance of guillotine cutting machines, which are now frequently preferred and used in many countries and fields, is needed to prevent possible malfunctions and prolong its life. The air filter of the guillotine cutting machine is placed next to the fuel tank. The air filter should be washed and cleaned with gasoline and similar solutions after 500 hours of operation. After that, it should be cleaned again after 1000 hours of operation. Adjusting the safety relief valve to ensure correct use of hydraulic shears is very important. For hydraulic shears, you need to adjust the safety relief valve to the maximum allowable operating pressure. The condition of the oil tank of the guillotine cutting machine should be constantly checked. Except for the first machine setup and trial run, the oil should be changed and the oil tank should be thoroughly cleaned at the end of the first month of use. The hydraulic oil should meet the needs of the machine. If the oil level is low when checking the machine, it should be aligned with the middle line immediately. The oil filter at the oil inlet of the oil tank should be regularly cleaned with certain solutions. If the oil filter is worn enough, it should be replaced without delay. The user manual of the guillotine cutting machine should be checked regularly, and if there is any loosening, excess lubrication, or friction, it should be addressed before restarting the machine.
