ÖZKOÇ Hidrolik Makina was founded in Istanbul in 1964. For more than sixty years it has built hydraulic presses; today design, manufacturing, assembly, automation and commissioning are all carried out under one roof at its plant in Arnavutköy, Istanbul.
The way the company works has not changed: what cannot be bought is built in-house. The earliest evidence dates from the mid-1970s, when a prefill valve that was unavailable on the market was designed and manufactured by the founder himself, raising output from two parts per cycle to sixteen; the same design was still in service forty years later. In 1984 cylinder bodies said to be "impossible to roll" were produced by rolling plate steel with a method developed in-house.
Production is organised around the process, not around a catalogue: tonnage, bed size, stroke and cycle time are determined by the part to be formed. Presses built on this basis include deep drawing, forming and bending, blanking and piercing, rubber and silicone curing, brake lining, composite and SMC/BMC, polyurethane, melamine, hydroforming, foundry and core, ceramic, glass mosaic, zirconia block, transfer, ballistic plate and helmet moulding presses, as well as laboratory presses.
A hydraulic press has an economic life measured in decades. After delivery, maintenance, spare parts, overhaul and modernisation are provided by the same manufacturer.
