What is Shrink Tunnel

There are models of shrink tunnels with control panels that record the operation it performs into its memory. With shrink tunnel models, you won't have a hard time keeping track of your work. This tunnel is a conveyor system or a heated tunnel mounted around it. It is mostly used for heat shrink packaging materials, but can also be used for curing applications. The heater bank is the main component in heating the shrink tunnel. 

The heater bank uses standard heating element coils that heat up when the heater is opened. The heat produced is centralized around the heater coil. Recirculating air helps achieve an even heat distribution along the tunnel. Blower motors are what recirculates the heat from the heater bank. Proper blower motor settings help ensure the product is heated evenly along the tunnel. If the blower motors blow too much air onto the product, the shrink film will burn. The conveyor carries the products from the tunnel entrance to the exit.

The ability to adjust the conveyor speed allows users to control their time inside the tunnel. Different products and materials require exposure to different levels of heat. The shrink tunnel, with the ability to adjust from slow scanning to a few feet per minute, helps ensure consistent shrinkage with any shrink material. A Shrink Tunnel control panel should provide two primary controls. Temperature controls and conveyor belt speed controls. With these two controls, fine-tuning of a shrink tunnel can be made for optimal exposure to heat for most applications. There are many components working in a shrink tunnel, but these four components help explain how a shrink tunnel operates. With proper settings, products should enter and exit the shrink tunnel properly.
